The America’s Most Responsible Companies list is based on publicly available key performance indicators from corporate social responsibility reports, sustainability reports and corporate citizenship reports as well as an independent survey of U.S. citizens.

Forbes America’s Best Mid-Size Employers 2023, 2022, 2021, 2020, 2019

Evaluations for this award are based on direct and indirect recommendations from employees, who were asked to rate how likely they would be to recommend their employers. Consumer data company, Statista also asked employees to rate their employers based on factors like working conditions, compensation and development opportunities.

Business Facilities Magazine Top Utility 2023, 2022, 2021

Each year, Business Facilities Magazine salutes the top utilities across the country, recognizing excellence among electric and gas utilities with respect to projects, programs and service initiatives.

Bloomberg Gender-Equality Index 2023, 2022, 2021, 2020, 2019 

The Gender-Equality Index is a weighted index Bloomberg developed to gauge the performance of companies based on gender-related data. This index measures a company’s equality across five pillars: leadership and talent pipeline, pay and gender pay parity, inclusive culture, anti-sexual harassment policies, and external brand.

The TreeLine USA® program recognizes best practices in public and private utility arboriculture, demonstrating how trees and utilities can coexist for the benefit of communities and citizens.

Human Rights Campaign Best Place to Work for LGBTQ+ Equality 2022, 2021, 2020, 2019, 2018

The Corporate Equality Index (CEI), administered by the Human Rights Campaign Foundation, is the national benchmarking tool on LGBTQ+ workplace equality. To be included in the CEI, companies must provide LGBTQ+ employees workplace protections, equal benefits and support, inclusive culture and corporate social responsibility.

Center for Energy Workforce Development (CEWD) Chairman’s Award for Workforce Development Leadership 2022

CEWD’s highest honor recognizes a company for excellence in general workforce development leadership. Those honored have demonstrated 1) excellence in promotion of 21st century careers in energy, 2) achievements toward diversity, equity and inclusion goals, 3) innovation in approaches to training and upskilling and 4) enhancements to office culture and operations to attract and retain a skilled, diverse workforce.

Power of 3 Company, by Milwaukee Women Inc. 2022

Milwaukee Women Inc. recognizes companies in Wisconsin that have at least three women on their board of directors. The Power of 3 award embraces diversity and highlights the importance of inclusivity in the growth and evolution of a company.

Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI) Technology Transfer Award – Integrated Security Operations Center 2021; Power for Pollinators Documentary Film 2021

The EPRI Technology Transfer Awards recognize the leaders and innovators who have applied EPRI research to help transform the future of energy. The award winners have shown exceptional application of EPRI research and technology, driving technological progress and helping the communities they serve.

Edison Electric Institute Emergency Response Award 2020 

The Edison Electric Institute (EEI) represents all U.S. investor-owned electric companies, and their Emergency Response Award recognizes electric companies for their recovery and assistance efforts following service disruptions caused by extreme weather and other natural events.

Upland Prairie Wind Site; English Farms Wind Site; West Riverside Energy Center Envision™ Platinum Recognition 2020

The Institute for Sustainable Infrastructure’s Envision program rates the sustainability of infrastructure projects. It looks at a full range of environmental, social and economic impacts. The Platinum award is the highest Envision recognition. The Upland Prairie Wind Site, English Farms Wind Site and West Riverside Energy Center have each received this honor.

Iowa-Illinois Safety Council (IISC) President’s Award 2019

IISC’s President's Award recognizes member organizations for their outstanding contributions controlling hazards. The IISC Board of Directors President, President-Elect and Past President select the five President's Award recipients.

West Riverside Energy Center Recycling Excellence Award from Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR) 2019

The Recycling Excellence Awards celebrate outstanding recycling efforts, innovation and performance throughout Wisconsin. The DNR offers the Recycling Excellence Awards not only in recognition of efforts made but also as a way of highlighting ideas with proven track records others might use to improve recycling endeavors.

Sustainable Transportation Champion from Wisconsin Clean Cities 2019 [PDF]

Wisconsin Clean Cities, a nonprofit organization in Wisconsin, partners with members in the public, private and nonprofit sectors to reduce dependence on imported oil in the transportation sector by promoting the use of alternative fuels and sustainable transportation options to improve air quality, support local jobs and strengthen the economy. Wisconsin Clean Cities honors Sustainable Transportation Champions in the public and private sectors for their use of clean fuels and technologies.

Green Master from The Wisconsin Sustainable Business Council 2016

The Green Master Program is a free, points-based recognition and assessment program that enables Wisconsin businesses of all sizes and from all sectors to receive recognition for sustainability initiatives. The program's goal is to recognize sustainable work and allow companies to benchmark their efforts and compare performance to other companies in the state.
