Albany Solar Project
The Albany Solar Project is an estimated 50-megawatt (MW) solar project located in Green County, Wisconsin.
Alliant Energy is working tirelessly to achieve net-zero CO2 emissions from the electricity we generate by 2050. This includes renewable generation (wind, solar) and retiring coal-fired facilities. We’re creating a clean energy future – for decades to come.
As part of our Clean Energy Blueprint, we are adding 1,089 megawatts (MW) of solar generation in Wisconsin by the end of 2024. This includes 12 projects across mostly rural parts of nine counties.
We are working together with the agriculture industry, labor groups and landowners to ensure everyone understands the benefits of solar. Our partnership with environmental stakeholders will help minimize the impacts on water, land and wildlife.
As we work to construct more solar projects around the state, we invite the public, elected officials and local community members to engage with us in meaningful dialogues to ensure the results benefit all Wisconsin’s communities. You can also sign up to receive quarterly updates during construction and annual updates once the project is operational.

We’ve built several types of solar structures on the grounds of our Madison office to offset part of our building’s energy use and to highlight numerous solar technologies.
This 2.3-megawatt solar facility is the first Wisconsin utility-scale solar installation located on a closed ash landfill site. It represents another step in modernizing our Town of Beloit energy campus.
We’ve built a 4-megawatt integrated solar facility to offset auxiliary power use at our natural gas-fired West Riverside Energy Center located near Beloit.
